Tricks to renovate your house

It is clear that when you feel like doing a complete reform or renovating a part of the house it is very difficult that with a few small changes these desires disappear. Even so, in today’s article I will give you ten pieces of advice that will help you to reduce the need to tear down walls, change doors, cupboards, floors and anything else that reminds you of your old house. At the end of all the ideas, you will have a little draw, don’t miss it!

Paint the cabinets and change the handles

One of the areas we usually want to change most often is the kitchen. Years ago, any change meant calling a renovation company, changing all the furniture, the table, the tiles. But that has changed, the decoration, just like the kitchen, brings us much more benefit when we do it ourselves, so we are going to give a new look to the whole space with our own hands.

To paint the cabinets, you can opt for the traditional white that will give us clarity and light, but you can also resort to more striking colors such as red or yellow. A few months ago I showed you my kitchen, where I decided to paint the furniture with slate paint, do you remember?

Kitchen renovation, slate paint

As for the handles, I chose leather and steel ones, but here you have hundreds of different options, the only precaution is to take the right measures 😀

It’s time to change the textiles

One of the most common and pocket-friendly changes is the change of textiles. Only by renewing the bedding, cushions and curtains you can achieve radical changes at home. Normally they will be lighter in summer and thicker in winter and the seasons are also a very good excuse to make a change in colours and prints. Try it out and you won’t be disappointed!

New shelves for your books

Do you have many books on those old rectangular shelves? Forget all those bookshelves and furniture that take up a lot of space and reduce the size of our room. As you may remember, in my bedroom I put these squares for the books you always want to have at hand and they can’t be more economical, what do you think?

Put a box in your life

That boxes are in fashion is something we can’t deny. How about getting down to business and taking advantage of some boxes to decorate? With this premise and a lot of desire to create for our house, we can build a storage for the bathroom with a cardboard box, rope and some fabric.

Vinyl?

Including a vinyl on one of our walls or doors can give a special touch and feeling of change. It’s a great bet for children’s rooms, as it will give color and life to the smallest room in the house with little effort.

Tile paint

We took up painting again in our low cost renovation to return to the kitchen and bathrooms. These areas of the house usually have tiles everywhere, and any change on them involves heavy and expensive works, so let’s paint them! With the special paint for tiles we will get a complete change and best of all, cheap and fast.

A new headboard, a different room

Renewing the bed headboard will achieve a change effect for the whole room, so I remind you how to make a headboard in a low cost way, in very few steps and, in my case, with leftover material.

Painting the doors

If they are in good condition, you can choose to paint or lacquer the doors. This process will take longer than the other tips but the result will be long lasting if you do it calmly and will manage to renovate your whole house in one step. First of all, you should choose the colour of your new doors. Think that nowadays white is still the most popular colour and the clarity it will bring is one of the advantages.

An original DIY for your plants

One of the things I like most about plants is their ability to give life and joy to the space around them, which is why I cannot conceive of a house without plants. Therefore, I could not miss a DIY to decorate with plants. I’m going to leave you with a very simple one that can be done with slats or pallets and that I have seen.

Renovating the floors

The last of the tricks we bring you comes from who doesn’t remember that “Cotton doesn’t cheat” and his repair effect, with which we can gradually improve the floors of the house and make them shine again as new and free of scratches without leaving us savings in the attempt.
